Andy Warhol’s Sunset, conceived in 1972, comprises a captivating series of screenprints derived from various reels of sunset photographs captured in East Hampton, San Francisco, and New York. Each screenprint is unique, meaning they were purposely done with slightly different tones and colors. This particular sunset was modeled after the San Francisco sunsets. The source material originates from Warhol’s film project titled Sunset, one of the esteemed fifty films preserved by the Museum of Modern Art.
