Description
This lithograph was created to commemorate Marc Chagall’s landmark retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris, held from 13 December 1969 to 8 March 1970. The image features The Magician of Paris, a whimsical and poetic composition that exemplifies Chagall’s distinctive blend of vivid color, folkloric symbolism, and dreamlike imagery. The lithograph was printed under the artist’s direction in a limited edition of impressions. It was executed by master printer Charles Sorlier, based on a large original work by Chagall. The second printing is identifiable by two small black dots beneath the inscription “Ch. Sorlier Grav. Lith.” This is a rare signed proof of the 2nd edition with the two small black dots.
