Description
Achille Mohrien (1870-1939) was a celebrated French painter known for his unique style. Born in 1870 in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, a Paris suburb, he initially trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs and later at the École des Beaux-Arts. Influenced by Impressionism, particularly Claude Monet, he developed his distinctive style marked by bold, vibrant colors and confident brushwork, masterfully capturing light and atmosphere. One of his most renowned works, “The Seine at Asnières” (1905), depicts a serene riverside scene with striking color contrasts. Mohrien exhibited at prestigious events like the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d’Automne, but his promising career was tragically cut short by his death in 1939 at age 69. Despite his brevity in the art world, Mohrien’s legacy endures through his vivid paintings, showcasing the enduring influence of color and light in art and the importance of artistic individuality.
