Description
In Flordali I and Flordali II, Salvador Dalí brings his Surrealist imagination to the natural world, focusing on the beauty and the symbolic power of flowers. Created in 1981, this series is a vibrant exploration of botanical forms, utilizing the medium of lithography and the technique of embossing to add both visual and tactile depth. Specifically, Dalí’s intricate use of embossing gives the prints a three-dimensional quality, bringing the flowers to life in a surreal, dreamlike manner. The wordplay in the series title adds another layer of meaning, merging flor (the Spanish word for flower) with Dalí’s own name, thereby suggesting that the flowers are extensions of his identity and creativity.
