Birth of Venus (FS II.319)

Andy Warhol’s Birth of Venus (FS II.319) is part of his Reversals series, which he created in 1984. The series features Warhol’s exploration of inversion and the manipulation of light and color, using photographs of famous images, including classical works, and turning them into silkscreen prints with reversed colors and details. This piece is Warhol’s take on the famous The Birth of Venus painting by Sandro Botticelli, reinterpreted in his signature pop art style.
