Description
Marc Chagall, Peintures Recentes Musee du Louvre is a classic vintage lithograph from 1977. This poster was made for the Louvre Museum Chagall Exhibition organized by the Centre Georges Pompidou. Published by the Musee National d’Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou. Printed by Mourlot, Paris. Chagall & F. Mourlot Studios – Stone Lithography:
Founded in 1852 by Honoré Bataille, the workshop on Rue de Chabrol in East Paris was bought in 1914 by Jules Mourlot, who had been directing his own printing atelier since 1880. The Imprimerie Mourlot took on the name Mourlot Frères in 1921 when Jules Mourlot passed and his son Fernand took over with his two brothers Georges and Maurice. Thereafter Fernand Mourlot invested all his energy and creativity (from his days as a drawing student at the École de Paris) into elevating Mourlot Frères into the most attractive and capable lithographic workshop in the world.
